Why Purchase your Glasses from Us?
The short answer is quality, value, service, and law. Lets first address issue of 'law'. Residents of Ontario are protected by the laws of the Ontario College of Optometrists, which stipulate that prescription glasses purchased from an Optometrist (not a retail store) must be provided at 'cost'. When you purchase from us it means, your frames are wholesale, the prescription is wholesale, the lens material (i.e. plastic, glass etc) is wholesale, and the coatings are wholesale (this is where you'll get your biggest savings). Just think about it, this means you're saving on four separate items.

Optometrists charge one professional fee when dispensing prescription glasses, and give you four ways to save money on prescription glasses. The products we offer are of exceptional quality; all brand names and well designed. In addition, if there is a problem, we are here to service any concern - no question.

So why should you buy your glasses from us - because, you will get the best product and service at the lowest possible (wholesale) price.

PROFESSIONAL EYE EXAM
Vision and vision care are highly underrated and often taken for granted, until it is too late. There is a huge misconception that you only need an Optometrist if you wear glasses. This could not be further from the truth. An annual eye exam is the only effective procedure available, as your first line of defense against vision loss due to disease/trauma. Ensuring a lifetime of good vision requires diligence in booking an annual eye exam.

Since vision and ocular health conditions are not always accompanied by pain or recognizable symptoms, many people are lured into believing that their eye health is good. An annual Eye exam will detect Cataracts, Glaucoma, and Retinal Disease, as well as Diabetes and high blood pressure.

Detecting disease early means treating disease early and minimizing vision loss largely. We are committed to providing our patients the best possible care and utilize the most advanced technology available. The following is what you can expect during your visit to Dr. Innamorato's office.

CASE HISTORY - You will be asked about your general health, medication. Working environment etc, and asked to describe any vision problems you may be experiencing.

EXTERNAL EYE EXAMINATION - The external area of your eye will be examined for abnormalities.

INTERNAL EYE EXAMINATION - The slit lamp microscope and an ophthalmoscope are used to check for abnormalities from front to back. Problems, which can be detected, include diabetes, or hypertension. Dr. Innamorato recommends the Optomap Retinal Exam as part of every annual eye exam.

TONOMETRY - Tonometry measures the fluid pressure in the eye, and is an important test in detecting glaucoma.

VISION TESTS - Several tests are used to asses your vision:

RETINOSCOPY - Dr. Innamorato can determine the strength of your eyes using various lenses and the retinoscope. This is done without patient feedback, and is invaluable in assessing vision problems in children and others who may not be able to read the eye chart.

VISUAL ACUITY - This test will determine your ability to see small details, both near and far. You may sit behind a phoropter, where lenses are systematically changed until a clear focus is obtained.

EYE MOVEMENT - Dr. Innamorato will evaluate how well your eyes align when working together and individually.

PERIPHERAL VISION - Your eyes will be evaluated on how well you see objects that are not directly in front of you.

OTHER TESTS - Other tests may be undertaken to evaluate your ability to change focus, see colour correctly, or perceive depth.

* The tests described above are typical during a basic eye exam. Additional investigative tests are performed if there are any irregularities in your eye health or vision. Dr. Innamorato prefers the use of the Optomap Retinal Exam in conjunction with a basic eye exam, since it will detect disease much sooner than instruments used with conventional technology.

EYE GLASSES
We have all of the latest frames and sunglasses from your favourite designers, including Versace, DKNY, Valentino, Gucci, Armani, Kliik, and many more. When you are ready for new glasses, we will have what your looking for. Our experienced staff will always be there to give you their professional, unbiased opinion about what suits you best. And, you will always know that you can't do better by going elsewhere because; our prices are 'wholesale'. Never worry about missing a 'sale' again, because nothing beats wholesale.

So, you've made the decision to purchase new glassses. This is what you know for sure.

Glasses make a statement, about who you are. It is the first thing people see when they meet you, and impressions are formed instantly. People will make decisions about who you are, how you think, etc. Consider this; are my glasses current or are they two years old or older? If your glasses are new, funky, and current; chances are the person you just met will think along those lines about you too. First, impressions are important. What do you want your glasses to say about you?

Having at least two pair of glasses to suit your clothing is another important consideration when choosing eyewear. After all, you wouldn't wear the same clothes everyday; your eye glasses are no exception.

Your eyes are the first thing people see. Make your first impression the best one.

OPTOMAP RETINAL EXAM
The Optomap is a high tech, diagnostic tool that has recently become available to Optometrists. A laser assisted digital camera captures a high resolution image of the retina (back of the eye). This exam is at the forefront in technological advancements. The detail presented in an Optomap Retinal image is superior in its ability to capture disease or trauma at its earliest stage. We hope that with regular annual testing our patients can minimize vision loss due to disease or retinal detachment. This is the most important test of the new millenium.

PRESCRIPTION LENSES FOR FRAMES
Single Vision

Single vision lenses provide a correction in focus for a particular vision such as distance if you're near sighted or close if your far sighted.

Multi-focal

Multifocal lenses correct your vision for two or more distances. These are usually; bifocals, trifocals and progressive lenses.

Computer lenses

These lenses provide clear vision from reading distance to several feet away. They are of particular use to computer users, but also, artists, musicians and others who need clear vision within this very specific distance. The advantage of these lenses is in the reduction of eye strain, headaches, blurred vision, dry or irritated eyes, pain or strain in the neck, sensitivity to light, double vision, and after images.

LENS MATERIALS
Plastic - plastic lenses are lighter and more resistant to breakage compared to glass. Traditional plastic lenses are made from a hard resin that is molded to fit almost any frame.

Hi-Index - Hi-index lenses are made from plastic but are thinner, so you will have a thinner lense that will fit into a wider selection of frames. Another advantage of these lenses over traditional plastic is that they are lighter, and provide farsighted patients with a less magnified more natural look.

Polycarbonate - These are the lenses of choice for people who lead active busy lives and are favoured by mothers who have young children and teenagers. Polycarbonate lenses provide UV protection, are light, and are ten times more impact resistant than conventional plastic or glass lenses.

Glass- glass is still used but not favoured; it's heavy and breakable

COATINGS
Scratch Resistance - Scratch resistance coatings can be added to the front and back surfaces of our lenses to increase their resistance to scratches and protect your investment. Uncoated lenses will compromise your vision and detract from your appearance as scratches grow with everday use.

Anti-reflective - Antiflective coatings have several advantages; they eliminate the reflections from the back of your lense; which means more light can reach your eye there by increasing contrast and clarity - this is especially noticeable if you are night driving; lenses appear almost invisible to people looking at you, making your eyes the focal point-not the lens; reduced reflections in photographs.

Transition Lenses - Also known as photochromic lenses, they have a built in tint that changes with the amount of light. Outdoors they become dark, and, indoors they lighten up and become clear.

CONTACT LENSES
Our office has virtually every contact lens type available for our patients:

Disposable soft contact lenses for almost any prescription, including high astigmatism.

Rigid Gas permeable.

Bifocal soft.

Tinted contact lenses for enhancing or changing the colour of your eyes.

We carry most brands of disposable lenses, and will work with you to find the lenses that best suit you. You can choose from the best brands, including a brand exclusive to Optometrists.
