OCT scanner - New Diagnostic Imaging Tool |
|
We are excited to announce the arrival of the Optical Coherence
Tomography Scanner (OCT). This sophisticated technology uses light waves
to create detailed images of underlying retinal structures. Using this scanner
we can conduct occular examinations with an unparralled level of detail
to aid in the diagnosis of glaucoma and retinal diseases.
WHY we invested in the OCT:
1. The advanced OCT technology provides detailed images of the retina not
observable by any other means.
2. This non-invasive tool can lead to earlier confirmation of damage allowing
us to provide earlier treatment options.
3. The scanner produces high-resolution (10 times greater resolution than
any other techniques available), cross-sectional images of the retina.

NEW TECHNOLOGY - Optomap Retinal Exam |
|
New technology has recently become available - and it can only
be described as a huge technological leap forward for Optometry. A digital
camera, the Panoramic 200 Scanning Laser Opthalmoscope, called the OPTOMAP,
captures a detailed, 200 internal degree image of the retina (the back of
your eye).
This test gives an unprecedented view of the retina that detects disease
in its infancy-far beyond the capability of conventional technology. Conditions
such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Cataracts, Retinal Detachments and
changes caused by general diseases such as high blood pressure and Diabetes.
These diseases are often not accompanied with pain or other symptom, and
can lead to blindness if left untreated.
The Optomap Retinal Exam is one of the most important diagnostic tools that
has been developed for Optometrists. Used in conjunction with an annual
eye exam, many eye diseases are treatable before they result in severe vision
loss or blindness. With the Optomap there is generally no need for dilating
drops that typically cause blurred vision and sensitivity to light.
We strongly recommend all patients have this test, including the young and
youthful.
